Softwood is our raw material - primarily spruce and pine. Annually Celgar requires 2.5 million cubic meters. We mainly use sawn timber by-products in the form of wood chips from sawmills in the surrounding area as well as industrial timber which comes from the local region, principally spruce, pine, and fir. The favourable geographic position of the factory, amidst the heavy wood growth areas of British Columbia and eastern Washington State, enables faster raw material supply harvesting over shorter distances.
In addition, we ensure that the wood comes from PEFC- and FSC-certificated sustainable forests.
