About

Currently there are about 400 employees working at Celgar. ZCL is one of the main employers in the region.

The guarantee of a consistently high pulp quality can only be achieved with continuous tests in all process stages. Celgar has had a quality management system for several years, which is certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 and is audited by SAI Global. In 2008 we introduced an environmental management system and the certification in accordance with ISO 14001:2004.

ZCL is a partner in the paper and tissue industry. The success of our customers is important to us. For this reason all production processes are monitored round-the-clock by expert staff. In order to adapt quality and pulp properties to individual customer needs, we work in close cooperation with scientific research facilities.

As a result of the direct closeness to the Interior’s Columbia River, environmental protection is a priority.

The Celgar wastewater treatment plant consists of mechanical stages as well as a single biological stage. Aerobic bacteria are used to break down organic by-products of the pulping process into non-toxic components prior to discharge into the Columbia River. The parameters of the discharged treated water are continuously monitored and results are below the legally required limits. When compared nationally, these parameters are very low.
